MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. | You’re not looking for perfect. 
That’s OK. 
Solid, playable golf is around every corner along South Carolina’s Grand Strand golfing mecca, and all you have to do to find it is show up. But when you’re not looking to say to you played one of the top-tier courses for the sake of playing one of the top-tier courses, you can discover plenty more that will deliver results. 
These five Myrtle Beach-area golf courses are perfect to help you start off your 2020 calendar on the right note.

ABERDEEN COUNTRY CLUB 
Twenty-seven holes. Able to accommodate players galore. Crisp design. What else do you need? <a href="https://www.mbn.com/courses/aberdeen-country-club">Aberdeen</a> had rebounded from years of hurricane- and flood-based closures. All it did was come out on the other side looking better than it ever did before. So much effort went into maintenance here that players now find better surfaces than they did five years back. How many courses can honestly say that?

BURNING RIDGE GOLF CLUB 
There is a good chance that if you came into Myrtle Beach via car, you drove right on by <a href="https://www.mbn.com/courses/burning-ridge-golf-club">Burning Ridge</a> and didn’t even notice. Yes, this course is right of U.S. 501 between Conway and Myrtle Beach city limits, but given the hectic locale, it’s not easy to spot, especially by whomever is driving. Yet, those who seek it out are rewarded both in terms of economics and what it actually delivered.

LITCHFIELD COUNTRY CLUB 
Pawleys Island golf was a figment of nobody’s imagination before <a href="https://www.mbn.com/courses/litchfield-country-club">Litchfield Coountry Club</a>  (pictured above) opened its doors back in 1966. And after nearly six full decades, this course is still doing its part to help keep the south end not only reputable but also sustainable. The high-end courses aren’t in everyone’s budget. Litchfield, however, is wallet-friendly and able to provide the right type of pop for first timers and repeat visitors alike.

RIVER HILLS GOLF &amp; COUNTRY CLUB<img decoding="async" alt="River Hills Golf Club" src="/media/images/River_Hills_12.jpg" style="width: 300px;height: 169px;float: right" /> 
Tom Jackson has a few designs here, and this one can certainly contend for portraying his personality (and naming rights). Anything that can possible keep players on their toes is presented: Doglegs, water, fairway mounding, bunkers. Nothing here was done by accident. And the steady crescendo of easy to hard keeps any particular hole from chewing up your scorecard. If you haven’t played in a few months, <a href="https://www.mbn.com/courses/river-hills-golf-club">River Hills</a> (pictured right) is your course.

SHAFTESBURY GLEN GOLF &amp; FISH CLUB 
We’ll scream this until they take our voice away: <a href="https://www.mbn.com/courses/shaftesbury-glen">Shaftesbury</a> is cool, and its location along the Waccamaw River section of Horry County keeps it from being one of the more notable courses in the area. If this same design wasn’t some 20-30 minutes from the Atlantic Ocean, it would be a prime package provider booking. Instead, it’s a gem for those who don’t mind taking a quick trek that back in the real world would seem like an easy drive to the office.
