<p>When asked to come up with some of our highest-rated personal restaurants in and around Myrtle Beach, the answer is more loaded than you might imagine. And to think of some of the pure gems we didn’t include here should be telling.</p>

<p>For when it comes to these very different types of dining options, we have no problem signing off on them with the highest possible marks.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>SOUTH OF THE BORDER EXCELLENCE</strong><br>Yes, we included a <u><a href="https://www.tacomundocantina.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Taco Mundo Kitchen y Cantina</a></u>, <em>(top photo)</em> a Mexican restaurant, in our list. Why? Because as you’ll see with our other two entries, we wanted to provide a range, sure, but also to tell you that to eat good in our neighborhood you don’t need to break the budget for your golf trip.</p>

<p>Taco Mundo is a new twist on an old concept executed to perfection. The taco selections are served separately to allow your varied palate to soar. The rice bowls and fajitas alike are oversized portions and the quesadillas are, well, just sort of ridiculous for what’s being charged. </p>

<p>Throw in some standard and not-so-standard starters and a laughable tequila slate capable of doing up your personalized margarita just right, this place is a winner. We can’t see this locally grown joint being anything but an anchor for the backside of Barefoot Landing for years to come.</p>

<p><strong>RUSTIC, YET REFINED</strong><br>We swear we won’t rave about the shrimp and grits this time. Ok, maybe we will. They really are awesome and the best we’ve ever had. Pawleys Island’s <u><a href="https://www.rustictable.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Rustic Table</a></u>, though, is so much more than one home run dish. In fact, those shrimp and grits are only the tip of the iceberg for why we’re so confident calling it one of the area’s best dining options. Whether you’re game for brunch, lunch or dinner, we can’t recommend Rustic enough.&nbsp;</p>

<p>There’s The “Comfy”, an open-faced chicken atop a biscuit and slathered in a sausage gravy. Or a couple smash burger options that leave your taste buds popping. And a country-fried steak served in a way that’ll slow your heart rate.&nbsp;</p>

<p>All of it is enjoyed in a laid-back environment where fancy napkins are laid atop tables you might see used in a barn-style wedding venue. The unsuspecting environment catches you off guard, if only for a moment.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>TRADITIONAL MEETS CONTEMPORARY </strong><br>When <u><a href="https://www.rivertownbistro.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Rivertown Bistro </a></u>opened in downtown Conway nearly 30 years ago, the chances of it surviving all these years was probably pretty slim. Yet not even a fire that closed the place for a little over 12 months could prevent its staying power from shining through.</p>
</div>

<p>All these years later, the “Traditional meets contemporary” designation is a tie to not only the menus (more on those in a moment), but also, its staying power in a place where restaurants have otherwise shuffled ownership and genres.</p>

<p>How does Rivertown do it? With a lunch menu that features affordable and smaller fare appetizers, sushi, sandwiches, and salads amid a daily special item rotated seasonally. With a dinner menu that throws caution to the wind (cough, duck sausage jalapeño sliders, cough) while crushing high-end entrees that are worth their price tags. And with a venue that is as inviting as it is first class.&nbsp;</p>
