	There are many spectacular sports bars in Myrtle Beach and the surrounding area, with one of the largest and most fun, serving consistently above average food, being Overtime Sports Café.

	Located at 14th Avenue South in North Myrtle Beach, it has been a favorite of locals and visitors for 14 years. One of the reasons for its popularity is evident upon entering: it’s spotless. The floors, equipment, tables, booths, the 150 television monitors – they all gleam. It’s a pleasure to enter the game room and see freshly groomed felt on the four pool tables and video games polished to a shine.

	In the main area is a towering central bar, and it owes its height to more than a dozen television screens over it in the style of a central arena scoreboard. Memorabilia from just about every conceivable sport is everywhere you look, from mini blimps and vintage motorcycles to team jerseys and NASCAR hoods.

	To the right and left of the bar are spacious dining areas, where classic rock plays at comfortable levels. Out back is an extremely well maintained covered deck. It’s cozy with a television, vintage items like an old globe-topped gas pump and several ashtrays on wrought iron tables.

	Female servers are cute and personable, and they’re swift to fill drink orders from the extremely well-stocked bar. Happy hour is from 4-7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and there are discounted drinks and appetizers. Special events are regularly scheduled, especially during big games and races.

	Plenty of tasty dining options are listed on a menu that is extensive but not exhaustive.

	Appetizers aren’t especially creative, but they are fairly priced crowd pleasers such as two jumbo soft pretzels with cheese dip for $5, or “Mile High” nachos for $7.50. Wings come in 14 flavors including Jamaican jerk, hot garlic, lemon pepper and “Really Freakin’ Hot.”

	Of course this Myrtle Beach sports bar has several sandwich and burger choices, like Palmetto Chicken with barbecue sauce, apple/honey slaw and an onion ring; the All American Grilled Cheese that can come Brooklyn style with bacon and tomato; pork sliders, French dip, Reuben, Chicken Caprese, blue cheese burger and the half-pound Carolina burger with chili and slaw.

	Seven entrée salads are classic, like Caesar, Greek and an iceberg wedge; and creative, such as Sweet Tea Fried Chicken Salad with candied pecans, Craisins, feta, pickled red onions and creamy dressing spiked with Texas Pete.

	Entrees, priced $9-$26, include fish and chips, baby back ribs smothered in a choice of wing sauces, blackened salmon, meatloaf, fajitas and Cajun Alfredo.

	We tried pork sliders, the Sweet Tea salad and a burger, and each was tasty, especially the salad with its extremely fresh greens.

	Overtime Sports Café is at 1409 U.S. 17 S. in North Myrtle Beach, and the number is (843) 361-1514. It’s open daily for lunch and dinner.
