Corridor of Doom?
Ok, maybe it’s not as catchy, but the swing through the 13-14-15 combo at <a href="https://www.mbn.com/courses/grande-dunes">Grande Dunes Resort Club</a> is certainly worthy of its own harrowing nickname. These three holes dice up the competition more often than not, leaving good players wondering what just happened and average players begging for forgiveness.
NO. 13, 499 YARDS, PAR 5 (top photo)
The trek to potential problems beings on arguably the most creative Par 5 in central Myrtle Beach. Off the tee, all you need to do is get a good swing into a fairway landing zone that is covered both on the front and back sides by unforgiving water.
If you can get far enough onto that terrain, you can manage to take a hack onto the secondary fairway toward the flag. But trust us when we say that reaching the green here isn’t the goal. This one is all about safety net. The best players will keep the ball dry and out of the huge greenside bunker, knowing that reaching the green in regulation is a blessing in of itself.

Did you notice where the ball drop area is? Good. From the Intracoastal Waterway on the right to the runoff drainage pond in front of you to the natural grass area just beyond that to the deep rough that swallows up golf balls beyond the green, anything off the green or approach zone or into the waste bunker is likely gonzo.
That’s the joy of playing a ball that you’re trying to land a couple dozen feet below your spikes while the winds swirl. Oh, and while we’re at it, try to ignore the seven-figure private residence that’s overlooking it all. The people who live there won’t judge. They’ve seen it all.

We could be melodramatic and say that most people are screaming “Mercy!” by this point, but let’s be honest: If you’ve made it this far, it’s because <a href="https://www.mbn.com/courses/grande-dunes">Grande Dunes Resort Club</a> doesn’t give rain checks for getting busted up by this particular swing.
Plus, you’re going to want redemption.
The 400-yarder bookending the swing is going to try to get you to drop the hammer to the left side of the fairway. Only problem is, if you do that, you’re cut off from a clear second shot into the green. Forgiveness is a cruel part of the game, after all. Stay right, hope you don’t go into those grasses lining the Waterway and maybe, just maybe, you’ll have a ball or two left to finish the round.
