<p>The Arnold Palmer design team put a great deal of emphasis here on reminding golfers that one of the game’s all-time greats was as steady in different conditions as anyone. Among those Par 5s is the very first hole of the day, maybe the most recognized hole on the entire Grand Strand, a relatively wide-open welcoming mat for birdies and pars and then the toughest swath of land players will find all day.</p>

<p>Let’s break them down.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>NO. 1, 459 YARDS</strong><br>The opening hole at King’s North is subtly sneaky in its design. Sure, off the tee, things are going to appear pretty straightforward. However, an ever-so-slight bend way up the left side hooking you to the green takes any sort of dynamic eagle out of the equation for anyone who isn’t hitting their first shot of the day some 300-plus yards. Even for those who find the fairway, a trio of bunkers up the right mirroring that bend off the left tree line means a second shot still angled well away from the putting surface. It wasn’t meant to be impossible, but it certainly isn’t an easy opener.</p>

<p><strong>NO. 6, 497 YARDS</strong><br>Arguably the most famous hole in all of Myrtle Beach golf, “The Gambler” doesn’t even wait for you to have a club in your hand to greet you and let you know where you are. This otherwise long Par 5 can be sawed off via an island fairway surrounded by 360 degrees of water up the left side of the traditional fairway. Anyone who can land their ball safely on the island shaves off significant distance. Anyone who finds the furthest depths of it can realistically attack the green in two with a fairway wood. Just take heed and know when to fold ‘em.</p>

<p><strong>NO. 10, 481 YARDS</strong><br>The easiest of King’s North’s four Par 5s, the backside kickstarter is a true grip-it-and-rip-it type of hole, at least by comparison’s sake. Even righties who slice off the tee can lay into this one, as No. 10 lays up directly to the previous hole. However, at 481 yards, and with conditions favorable to a decent roll on your drive, there’s nothing preventing you from hitting a long iron or fairway wood unobstructed to the green on your second shot. Chances to score extremely well are few and far between on this layout. Take your shot here, because…</p>

<p><strong>NO. 15, 473 YARDS</strong><br>The fourth and final Par 5 of the day is a bear. An elongated waste bunker rides the entire left side of the hole. There’s plenty of water up the right, challenging not only the tee shot, but the second, as well. The fairway depth changes several time. The trees beyond the waste bunker are a no-man’s land of lost balls. Four bunkers around the green are all in play. And, if all that wasn’t enough, the staff here tends to prefer a semi-hidden pin location on the back left portion of the green. Good luck.
