52nd Annual Event is One of the Premier Junior Golf Tournaments in the Carolinas
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. &#8212; The <a href="https://www.mbn.com/golf-events/george-holliday-memorial-junior-tournament">52nd annual George Holliday Memorial Junior Tournament</a>, which will be played November 26-28 on Myrtle Beach National’s three acclaimed courses, is now accepting entries.
One of the premier junior events in the Carolinas, the George Holliday Memorial Junior Tournament counts current PGA and LPGA players Lucas Glover, D.J. Trahan and Kristy McPherson among its past participants.
The 54-hole tournament will be played on three Arnold Palmer designs &#8211; King’s North, the West Course and SouthCreek &#8211; at Myrtle Beach National over the Thanksgiving holiday. The event is open to junior golfers who are 18 years of age or younger and still in high school as of November 26, 2020.
“Hosting the George Holliday Memorial Junior Tournament is always an honor, and we certainly enjoy the fun of watching some of the game’s most talented young players compete,” said Ryan Ruddy, head golf professional at Myrtle Beach National. “The three courses here at Myrtle Beach National present an outstanding challenge, and we look forward to crowning our 2020 champions.”
The competition divisions are boys ages 10-11, 12-13, 14-15, and 16-18 years of age. There are three age brackets in the girls’ division: 10-12, 13-14, and 15-18 years of age.
Golfers are encouraged to register early as the field of 160 players is expected to fill quickly.
In 2019, Walker Isley, a UNC Wilmington signee, and Adrian Anderson, a rising junior at St. James High School in Murrells Inlet, won the boys and girls crowns.
Entry into the event is $185 and includes a welcome gift, lunch and range balls on tournament days.<img decoding="async" alt="" src="/media/images/Holliday_winners_60011.png" style="width: 300px;height: 150px;float: right" />
George Holliday was a successful junior and collegiate golfer who was tragically killed in a 1967 automobile accident at the age of 22. The Galivants Ferry, S.C. native believed his experience as a junior golfer was paramount in molding him into the fine young man he became. His family created the tournament to give junior golfers an opportunity to compete in a high-caliber tournament setting.
