<p><strong>What is your favorite hole at Tradition Club and why?</strong></p>

<p>My favorite hole at Tradition would be the Par 5 4th hole <em>(pictured right)</em>. It plays 540 yards from the back tees. It is the most risk-reward hole we have on the golf course. The tee shot demands accuracy if you are going to take driver. A bunker guards the right side and a large Water Oak guards the left side. If you split the fairway the challenge has just begun. To go for it in two requires a second shot over water to a two-tiered green. If you choose to lay up, it gives you plenty of room out to the right with a wide fairway to rely on your wedges to make birdie. Par 5’s that give you options are always my favorite to play.</p>

<p><strong>What is one thing about&nbsp;Tradition Club that will surprise people?</strong></p>

<p>The playability for all skill levels. The Club’s layout with the six different teeing options gives everyone an opportunity to have fun and be challenged on the golf course. The layout gives the player options to play aggressive with driver off the tee or play smart and lay-up. If you choose driver your landing areas will be smaller and bring trouble into play. I guarantee whether you are a scratch golfer or a beginner you will walk off Tradition thinking I need to come back to this place!</p>

<p><strong>Best advice for a good round at Tradition Club</strong></p>

<p>Rely on your wedges. Ron Garl did a great job of making you want to go for our par 5’s in two to try and make an eagle. But there is risk all around the greens on the par 5’s whether it is water to carry, bunkers all around, or trees. The smart play is to lay up to the yardage you like and stick the wedge in close for birdie.</p>

<p><strong>Other than Tradition Club, what is your favorite Myrtle Beach-area course and why?</strong></p>

<p><u><a href="https://www.mbn.com/courses/river-club">River Club</a></u> is my favorite area golf course. It is one of the best layouts and is always a good time. If you are playing well at River Club, it is one of those courses that rewards good shots with birdies. It is always maintained well and in great shape. I also used to work there as an assistant when I was just starting in the business, so I got to know the layout well. The meatloaf sandwich is amazing too.</p>

<p><strong>What is the biggest misconception about golf?</strong></p>

<p>The biggest misconception about golf is that it you need to play the tees based on what your age is. We offer 6 different sets of teeing options here at Tradition. We recommend that you play off the yardage that is going to allow you to have the most fun. If you are not reaching the par 4’s in two shots because it is playing too long, move up a tee and enjoy. Everyone has more fun when they have chances at birdie and par.</p>

<p><strong>What is your best round ever and where was it?</strong></p>

<p>My best round ever was back home in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania&nbsp;at my local course Cedar Ridge. I shot a 65 on a Par 72. It is not a long course playing 6300 yards from the back tees and all the Par 5’s are well within reach.</p>

<p><strong>Quick advice on how someone can improve their golf game</strong></p>

<p>Stick to the fundaments – grip, stance, and alignment. Usually, we can fix a lot of issues in the golf swing when we get the correct fundamentals from the start.</p>

<p>My favorite local spot would be Dagwoods Bar and Grill. The food and atmosphere are always fantastic. When the wife and I take the kids, they also serve the kid’s meals on frisbees for the plates. Can’t beat that: food and a toy all in one spot!</p>

<p>The course that always seems to be the answer to this one is Augusta National. Since I know that isn’t going to happen anytime soon. I would want to travel to the west coast and play Pebble Beach Golf Links. I have never been to the west coast and would like to see how different the golf is out that way and what better place then Pebble.</p>
