<p><strong>What is your favorite hole at Myrtlewood and why?</strong></p>

<p>With thirty-six holes available here at Myrtlewood between our Pinehills and Palmetto courses; I have two favorite holes. My favorite hole on Palmetto is undoubtably eighteen&nbsp;<em>(pictured right)</em>. It’s as scenic as it gets playing parallel to the Intracoastal Waterway. My favorite hole on Pinehills is hole three. A par five that requires a precise tee shot with trees left and water right. That is followed by a choice of going for the green in two or laying up to a skinny fairway due to the encroaching water. A good risk-reward hole.</p>

<p><strong>What is one thing about&nbsp;Myrtlewood that will surprise people?</strong></p>

<p>Our location on the Intracoastal Waterway. We are one of a handful of courses that is located on the waterway. It couldn’t be a better spot to unwind after a round with some lunch and a beverage.</p>

<p><strong>Other than Myrtlewood PineHills or Palmetto, what is your favorite Myrtle Beach-area course and why?</strong></p>

<p>I’m a sucker for older designs. I love traditional layouts and how courses were designed back then. With that said, I love&nbsp;<a href="https://www.mbn.com/courses/pine-lakes-country-club">Pine Lakes Country Club</a>. It’s called “The Grandaddy”. It has rich tradition, uniqueness, and outstanding customer service.</p>

<p><strong>What is the biggest misconception people have about the golf industry?</strong></p>

<p>That it is boring or “not a real sport”. It is a slower paced sport, but it is exhilarating to hit a perfectly struck iron shot. It requires a lot of thought and planning. It is one of the few individual sports where your success depends upon you. It’s challenging and fun at the same time. Once people are exposed to golf, these two myths become debunked quickly.</p>

<p><strong>What is your best round ever and where was it?</strong></p>

<p>I have shot sixty-six a few times in my career; but the one that stands out was at a place called The Preserve in Greenville, SC. It was a practice round for a tournament; and everything just went right that day on a tough course. I wish the tournament round was as good.</p>

<p><strong>Quick advice on how someone can improve their golf game</strong></p>

<p>Stop swinging so hard. Hard swings lead to mistakes when trying to gain distance. Accuracy will benefit you way more than those few extra yards you get from swinging hard. That’s why you still see a lot of shorter hitters on the leaderboards each week.</p>

So, I have three answers for my three favorite cuisines: Asian – Yamato’s Steakhouse, Mexican – Mexico Lindo (you must try the shrimp and chorizo enchiladas), and soul food – Big Mike’s Soul Food.</p>
