<p><strong>What is your favorite hole at Colonial Charters and why?</strong></p>

<p>My favorite hole is No. 7 <em>(pictured right).</em> It’s a short par four that is drivable if you want to take the risk of a long carry over the pond. If you aren’t on target, you can put up a big number but I feel this hole really captures the fun factor that golf should be about.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>What is one thing about&nbsp;Colonial Charters that will surprise people?</strong></p>

<p>What surprises most people about Colonial Charters is how challenging the course can be. Colonial certainly is not long by but if you aren’t hitting it straight and have your irons dialed in, you could be instore for a long day!</p>

<p><strong>Best advice for a good round at Colonial Charters</strong></p>

<p>My best advice for a good round is to have your short game tuned up. We have very small greens so the chance you hit all of them in regulation is pretty low, so you are going to need to be able to get up and down a few times to score well.</p>

<p><strong>Other than Colonial Charters, what is your favorite Myrtle Beach-area course and why?</strong></p>

<p>I really enjoy playing <u><a href="https://www.mbn.com/courses/long-bay-golf-club">Long Bay</a></u>. The design of the course demands precise, controlled iron shots due to how shallow most of the greens are. Additionally, unlike a lot of Nicklaus course’s that set-up for players that hit a fade, Long Bay has its fair share of holes that need you to hit a draw as well. If you score well there, you know you’ve earned it.</p>

<p><strong>What is the biggest misconception people have about the golf industry?</strong></p>

<p>I think what surprises most people is how few rounds a golf professional typically plays in a year. While all of us love to play the game, our first responsibility is running and managing our course, building member relations, and growing the game.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>What is your best round ever and where was it?</strong></p>
</div>

<p>While I certainly have rounds where I shot much lower, I think the best round I ever played was at The Ocean Course at Kiawah. It was my first and only time playing the course and it was mid-February which added a biting cold to the typically windy conditions. I struck the ball and putted very well, and I shot an 80 that day, which taking the conditions into account, was definitely the best I could have hoped for.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Quick advice on how someone can improve their golf game</strong></p>

<p>Develop a pre-shot routine. It doesn’t, and shouldn’t be anything long and involved, but something simple and repeatable. Golf is such a mental game giving yourself a comfortable and familiar starting point no matter the shot or situation is very helpful. &nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Favorite Restaurant in Myrtle Beach</strong></p>

<p>My favorite restaurant is Umberto’s in Barefoot Landing. Their menu is Pittsburgh Italian, and they have some of the best steaks and chops you will ever have. No matter your choice of entrée, you also get three courses, featuring a garden salad, Italian bean salad, and angel hair pasta. Regardless of your choice you definitely won’t leave hungry!&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>If I wasn’t a Golf Professional I would be a…</strong></p>

<p>I would be working in the cycling industry. I have worked in the business before as well as raced competitively. I have been a NICA coach for the Horry County mountain bike team for the last three years. Helping the kids gain confidence on the bike and apply that confidence to their everyday lives has been tremendously rewarding for me.</p>

<p><strong>The one course I haven’t played but have always wanted to is….</strong></p>

<p>Augusta National would seem like the obvious answer here and it is my “1B” option, but there has always been something special about Cypress Point. I think every golfer has seen pictures of their famous par 3 16th hole, which must be one of the most intimidating in golf and wondered how they would fare. The challenge and beauty of the entire course I feel is unrivaled in golf.</p>
